Hi
My days are hectic these days.
I have learned that managing your own team is better than managing a outsourced team. These big BPO's have brainless people they only go by books, everything has to be documented for them.
I plan to go shopping for my winter wardrobe today.....yippeeeeee
Hey...i went to Lajpat Nagar for shopping sometime back nice Kurtas I bought from there.:-)

Lovely winters are here.
Nothing was happening so I have become the change in my life not sure yet how its going to go.

so late shift which is 3pm onwards, new team, new skill and new migration.
so same boss same band.
Like I said lets see how it rolls forward but at last I was sure I wanted a role change.
So last week it was official from Mar 10 I will work for EXL..
ek hi giila hai I had wanted to resign from Amex ... ah another one of my wish list unfulfilled items.
Well, it was gr8 working for them and I think I will miss them inspite of everything else.
So loads of changes happening you will see perhaps a more mature me :))))))))))) next time.
Long time and I think I have forgotten what Prachi and Mons look like.
Anshu is always going through makeovers since she went to Au so ... I think we will all see her
Mons are you in SA ??????????

Yawn!!!
Life changes :))))))))))
Well, before you get funny ideas I am @ work but not working cause I am blogging.
Good to see everybody bounce back from oblivion into the blog.
As far as my blogs are concerned I wanted to have atleast one entry every month otherwise I thought it was an insult to the gr8 idea of blogging and staying connected. I guess if all of us resolve to atleast write once a month and respect staying in touch it would work.AND meet too.
Me going on vacation this october and am really surprised how my life is focused on holidays.
There has to be more to my life than this surely.
Working in a BPO I want my work to amount to more than "I can do it cheaper" and nowadays a lousy "cheaper better" maybe will write a novel then some day one day which is no day.
And thanks Shweta for the lovely compliment....................................someday I will give you my autograph (even if you don't want it )

Women are always right ;)
One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, 'My dear child, why are you crying?' The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family. The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with sapphires.
'Is this your thimble?' the Lord asked . The seamstress replied, 'No.' The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a golden thimble studded with rubies.
'Is this your thimble?' t he Lord asked. Again, the seamstress replied, 'No.' The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble.
'Is this your thimble ?' the Lord asked. The seamstress replied, 'Yes.' The Lord was pleased with the woman's honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy. Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water. When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, 'Why are you crying?' 'Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!' The Lord went down into the water and came up with George Clooney. 'Is this your husband?' the Lord asked.
'Yes,' cried the seamstress. The Lord was furious. 'You lied! That is an untruth!' The seamstress replied, 'Oh, forgive me, my Lord. It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said 'no' to George Clooney, you would have come up with Brad Pitt.
Then if I said 'no' to him, you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said 'yes,' you would have given me all three. Lord, I'm not in the best of health and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT'S when I said 'yes' to George Clooney. And so the Lord let her keep him.
The moral of this story is: Whenever a woman lies, it's for a good and honourable reason, and in the best interest of others. That's our story, and we're sticking to it.
Signed,
Women of the world!!

Hello Ladies!
I am presuming Mons is in Ccu, Prachi is looking for a job & Shweta is looking for a groom & change! come-on guys you still need to communicate with us, Never mind Savy - you & i shall write on the blog & talk to each other.
Well abt me, i had a sexy Graduation dinner night & danced after such a long time, really had fun after a very long time.. the last couple of years have been quite monotonous & boring. & I wore a Saree - i am getting good at it.. Plan to wear one for the graduation ceremony too & throw my cap in the air -have always wanted to do it & now i have the chance!
I have recently watched Ice Age 1 & 3 - fabulous movies- just see. Saw New York loved it, the sensitive way in which the move was handled is amazing - again a must see. Kambhakt ishq - Yikeeeesss - don't watch even if someone pays fr the tickets, demand a lakh atleast.. 99 - Ok if nothing better to do.. & lastly watched Khuda Ke liye (last yr's Paki Movie) - Brilliant & a must for the idiotic Religious fanatics of the world.
Read 3 Mistakes by Chetan Bhagat - nice book & a little too realistic. Trying to read the monk who sold.... - initial chapters were good, bt now that someone is going to impart gyan, has taken the fun away from it. We all know what is right for us, we don't another smart ass to tell us that!
Enjoy life & chill, will post pictures soon. What news of guys beyond us 5?!

And it Rained
Delhi had its full first shower of 2009.
Optimists won today over the pessimist and may they win many more and only if the divine balance kicsk in , we woul win more.
Read White Tiger and hope all of us could have read it in the book club if we had one :)))
Loved the book, please try and read it.The narrative is different and for a change the point of reference is freedom .........and the book made me think............. the author has talked about people in light and darkness. Me wonders about the people who are in light and move into darkness, darkness of servitude which is so apparent in the corp culture in India.
Just realised I have done quite a bit of reading last month.
Read Roots by Alex Haley and another one Memoirs of my melancholy whore by Gabriel Garcia
(he sometimes escapes me completely -Prachi I think you will like him)
And another one .... short stories by Munto, he is an Urdu short story writer and has written the stories around partition time amazing again.
So I am the bookworm for some monts to come... see you chappies remain happies :))))

Time is on my side !
Today when i wear this watch again it makes me feel the same way ....cool and with it.
We had such limited choices back then so it was easy to be Hip and Happening and get satisfied in small things . It makes me think is it the same with so many options for teenagers .
Will they remember their 1st cool watch ? will it be from Timex ? OR
Is Tissot new world timex ?
Will find out from some yound and restless person
But feels good to wear ma style watch again :D

Only Memories
"No, I think she is right", the first rebellious words I spoke.
It was against her mother's view of a daughter in laws karma and her elder sisters
advise of a dutiful wife and daughter while her husband and father watched.
I had mulled for over an hour before the words came out.
I thought it was only for me to defend her against the emotional barrage.
Well, I don't think she needed the help of a 12 yr old girl. Besides she had taught me to
speak what one felt. And not to commit to what your heart said "no" to.
And yes, I talk non stop like her.
Mom used to get over from her school and reach home much later than us and I remember, I used to drag myself home. Whenever, she was there I was probably the first one out of school. She decorated the house on my birthday and my brothers too.
She wanted to name me Surbhi.
I still remember that she once made dhokla because we had never prepared anything like it ever, she had kept out in the sun for the dough to rise and I don’t know if many people know of “ bread ka poha”, she had prepared from a “sarita” recipe.
She modeled twice or thrice for Grahshobha and sarita.
She learnt cycling with us and had dragged herself and our brand new cycle into the sukha naala. She had taught me tables in summer holidays and went with us to Kashmir. And I remember when we went to Agra she did not drink water (agra water is khaara, then and am not sure if he had mineral water then) for the entire stay of 2 days and had a jug full the day we came back home.
Was always on our side in an argument, otherwise it is very easy for a child to be asked to keep quiet.
She bought T Series cassettes when it used to 18 rupees old and used to love,
“ Hawa hawaaayi” and knew the lyrics by heart, that’s how today I know of the company and a singer Kavita Krishnamurthy. We used to listen to the main ullu ka pattha hu (forbidden lyrics) song when her dad was not at home.
I had one poori in a family function because she told me to eat only one.
And then cooked me dinner when I came back.
I learnt my 2 ka table hungry because she told me I could not have breakfast till
I learnt it. I did not eat the bhindi ki saabzi and parantha that her mother offered even
on the condition that she won't come to know.
She was probably the only person I was scared of disappointing.
My earliest tangible memory of my childhood me and her mother walking towards the Iron Gate going to give my mausi her lunch box at her school.
From being taught by her to seeing her being taught ....
So many memories and now there will be no more to build.

For me it was a tough decision to take...
Let me tell you that guy was good, he heads training in HCL. we met thrice but somehow I couldnot connect myself to him. I think and now I believe also.. I cannot marry a person I dont love...liking someone is different!!! you cannot and should not marry a person you like !!!
I dont know whether this is making any sense to you guys or not, if i am getting accross or not but this is what i feel. He looked like a complete stranger whenever I used to imagine him as life partner!!!
Anyways I am all set to study this month as I attend my PMP classes.
June is also busy- my bro's marriage....
Savy- enjoy your goatrip and Anshu we all will definetely come to OZ...Yepeee
Love hmmmm makes me think
but I am bored with everything else :(
Watched this movie, Elegy today and absolutely loved it** All of you must watch it***
I think I am going to read the novel its based on as well.
AND i am going to goa next weekend I am so loooving the feeling.
Actually Prachi what happened to you ?
missing bombay too much kya....
PMI- is project management institute *its a body formed by Project managers etc who certify
project managers all over the world. so u have to give an exam and one gets certified as a PM
and needs to have some 4500 hrs into project mngmt etc.
Its fairly in demand kind of certification. especially in the IT industry though is widely accepted in all industries (that's my take on it :)) or lets say most of the industries are looking for PMs (project managers) now that they have caught on with IT.
it must be love!
What are PMI classes?! well i don't like the word "classes" anymore as i think i have had enough of my studying stint.. ab to classes ke liye bhi nahi jaati.. even a simple assignment is giving me a nervous breakdown. i have one of the most boring subject - Conducting & Evaluating Research, poocho aaj kal ki duniya mein kaun research karta hai - pasie kahan hai bhai?!
Well this semester doesn't seem to be going too well with me either - no walks, exercise, just being lazy & fretting about getting a job OR having to do another 6 months of studies - which sounds so daunting right now. Enough of the rona-dhona, i went fr a vacation with the family to the Great Ocean Road, seeing it the 2nd time around too, seemed awesome. Tried to live the OZ way by BBQng an swimming in ice cold water & just travelling on the road. It was a nice break.
OK here is my plan - When i start earning & live on my own - the 4 of you are flying down & we shall hire a car & travel & see places & BBQ & chill. I had this beautiful picture in my mind all the while - doable right girls?!
OK now - Where are the other 2 oldies? they seem to hv disappeared, pehle only Mons but now even Prachi & strangely she hasn't even started harassing us with the number of days left to her B'day - everything ok PS?

Free or not
Education to most means to ready oneself for mature life i.e to be able to earn a living, apprecitae better life /arts n culture etc.
For me it means to know yourself to know freedom. To know what rights we have as Indians to know what being a slave actually means. To know the importance of our freedom struggle to understand why freedom fighters fought. It is not for a piece of land nor for the money that is siphoned off it is to be free to live as one wants, to have the freedom to choose.
Yes, we all live in an independent India. Are we really free?
Are we really in a position to make sure that our fellow natives are free as well.
Do you do anything when you see a car coming from the opposite direction on the wrong side of the road ?
Do you do anything when a mal practice is being followed by your organisation?
Do you do anything when you can see everyone in your office filling in fake rent receipts?
Do you do anything when you see a wife being beaten up by usband ?
Do you do anything when you see a young child employed by your neighbour?
Well, I know we do nothing but the beauty of the society we live in isThe day you decide you want to do something you will find all your well wishers'asking you to stay out of trouble ............Begging you not to take any action.T
Well, well we are already in TROUBLE.

Zin and Zang
And here they are
vagabond
Wayfarer
gadabout
wanderer
rover
Gypsy
Since I turned down( just in my head they offered and I declined) a discovery, yatra sort of a job where you goto places, stay at different hotels and yap on TV ....I wondered why???
So here is my reason why- I would want to just explore the places like it or hate ithave my own opinion and flaunt it and not worry about if people would like my opinion or if I had to say good things about Hotel A because I got a complimentary stay, Work on schedule, act and dress a specific way.....
And not be able to have real interaction with the cities what with the camera crew and all following me and Yes everybody would recognize me and be on their best or worst behaviour.
SO I do not regret not having THE DREAM JOB
So what Job....actually a writers' job create my own world and cities (Utopia nagar)
my own set of people who would act react as I want.(what a dictator I am)
The story would be happy with no deceit and evils and no heros' and NO AUDIENCE.
Such is life, you have to live with the YIN AND YANG.
And I say live it with a Yin and Yang a bit of Zing and Zang.

Love and the Stoneman murders
I think with love you can.
If you ask me how lets say if the stone man were to fall for this woman
(of course human being - aren't so many of belles waiting for the man )
and the woman rejects his love.
The stone man turns to Dev D and say because we want another story does not find Chanda
then he would surely die and that's how love would murder stone man
Love makes all possible.
Poor stone man, actually poor love.
Because sometimes when it is supposed to happen it doesn't.
And when it is not supposed to happen it happens'
so love simply happens.
So these were my love quotes for the day.
Maybe will come up with a lot many more next year.
***BY THE WAY LETS WATCH DELHI 6 ON FRIDAY *******LET ME KNOW I WILL GO BUY THE TICKETS IN ADVANCE****I AM DYING TO SEE THE MOVIE********

My Bday-want to share something really nice with you guys
poem :
Shweta,
Made up of sugar, spice and everything nice,
Your patience with us is very precise,
Your crisis management skills are upto the mark,
your sensitivity towards us is not kept in the dark,
You give us liberty and our freedom,
You give us enough knowledge that we rule in our kingdom,
You believe in us as we believe in you,
Our love for you is very true,
You lead us all by setting an example,
You are one of one, God's perfect sample,
We love you all mentioned above,
We know that holds true,
But most of all we love you,
Beacuse you are you.
Love and hugs,
The fantastic 4
fantastic 4 are my 4 trainers...isnt it nice
I am really touched
Happy Bday!

Educational Psychology..hmmmm Boring blog but i had to share
Frontal lobe / prefrontal Cortex / Hippocampus / Cerebelleum and cerebral yipeeeee i remember :)
Learning various thing abt memory and how it is related to learning.
Lesson for the day : In given list of things we would always remember the 1st item and then the last...the same is applicable when we attend presentation ppl will always remember the beginning and end never the middle.
It is called Primary effect & Recency effect.
Right after a PPT presentation if you ask ppl to recall immediately what is it that you have learnt from this presentation / training they will always say the last thing this is called Recency - Primary effect.
AND MORE OF SUCH STUFF he he he he he
Had to share it with you guys :)
And still at it learning names .....my new one is Piaget's theory to cognitive processes ....i just can not remember it ......and now i know why thanks to the brain diagram ;)

names..
So these days preparing QRG with all names and work e.g Professor Albert Mehrabian's > Communication theory ,David Kolb's > learning styles model and experiential learning theory (ELT) etc etc etc ..u guys get the drift i am sure.
It's not very exciting task BUT some bits are great. It's good to know Dept Perception - Binocular Disparity and how they are related to training or a good way to introduce a topics.
AND not to forget with some ppl u need to use BIG words to make them understand yr worth ;) which brings me back to our all so very sad education system .....which all of know wht i feel about!
BTW Savy what happened to yoga ?

to be or not to be redundant
In my observation redundancy is inbuilt in the organisation.
It is not because the employee is incompetent, it is because the Management all along
has been incompetent.
All the big fuss about job cuts have happene initially at a stage on positions that were
probabaly not required and were not adding any value to start with.
With the thin margins that the travel industry (or any industry) works on it never was and never will be able to carry any excess baggage.
As far as being redundant is concerned -Remember -it is always a position that becomes redundant and not the employee.
It would be unfair to call people who lost there jobs as incompetent or bad performers.
The near to 100 people who lost there job in our BNE centre, all could not have been
bad performers or incompetent.
It was the Management which was not able to match the P&L.
If the employee was a non performer why the hell was the company paying for him in even in
the better times. Had they paid attention earlier maybe they would have been better equipped to deal with the slowdown turning into recession.
Like big CEO's are saying we need to innovate and take up this oppurtunity to come out
of our comfort zone and look at things we never looked at and probably overhaul the entire
situation.
Much has been said on the 20000 feet and you can find it on google.
At our individual level it is time to prepare to be flexible and add onto our
skillsets and look for husbands :)))))))))))

I am back!
I am back in Mel & it was 40 to 45 degrees over the last week & infact one of these days the power was also out fr nearly 3 hours - believe me didn't miss India at all - felt i was there anyway! Well i start full day classes for a intensive course, this week & just hope the weather holds up.
Stop thinking so much about the recession, remember good staff will always find jobs - the low performers & white elephants should have been dealt with a long time back, we just keeping delaying the inevitable. Learn from Savy, go spend money on something that is never going to depreciate - Jewellery. Savy i am proud of you - stop buying clothes... where do you find the place to keep the new & the old ones? i should be the one depressed - no money incoming, living off brother not even parents & may have to do another course fr 6 months as awaiting PR & no one will even look at me ws out it, let alone interview me fr a trainees job! ha ha.. yet refuse to get depressed about the situation.
My flight to mel was amazing - i was carrying 90 Kgs of luggage ws a 6 yr old for company and nearly 10kgs worth of supari, etc... felt like a complete idiot.
Well the vacation is finally over & the routine restarts & i am kind of looking forward to it all. Keep writing people so i know all is well!
Savy - belated Happy birthday! tell tell what all you did & what did you buy?

*********Landmark********
Well, not really I have just received my credit card SMS and the amount is humongous on it
but guess what??? no one is pissed with me :)))))))))))))
I bought jewellery for the first time in my life (ussi ka bill hain)
Me n Divz went to buy it and we had made a promise of sorts that one day we will walk into to a jewellery shop and pick up stuff like we used to (and still do) pick up clothes.
So it was a dream achieved and have made a solemn promise we will keep making such sojourns in the future as well (may our regular source of income flourish)
(How the hell do you spell it correct Jewelry or Jewellery????????? )
Destination next ............... still exploring...............
Republic Day
I used to stay in Pataudi house, these were houses right next to where Bhai house is, next to
K G Marg.
We used to watch the programme on TV and dances and wait for the jhaaanki's see them all on TV and then run to KG Marg to carch a glimpse of the live ones on the road.
I also remember watching the parade on the 24 Jan from school.
I was talking to my younger cousin this saturday and she was excited about 26Jan
And whenever there is a debate on whether the government should stop investing money in this celebration or we should not hold it on account of x y z tragedies (i say x y z because we are a nation of tragedies not because I am being insensitive to any) I always decide on that it should be celebrated.
Simply, for the reason that we almost never celebrate our country as a nation.
26 Jan and 15 Aug are the days we can and we should.

OHHHHH!!! YOU MUST READ THIS
“Oh for the good old days” Grandmas wistful musings always amused us
“One single coin was all I needed
To feed a whole family
Educate the entire brood of kids
We lived like kings”
In the good ole days
---------------------------
Now my kids look at me
With eyes full of wonder
As I give specific details
Of days when travel agents used to receive free tickets Hotels welcomed us with fruit baskets
And little mints on the pillows
Upgrades were oh so routine for us
Cruises were our “thank you for a good job” awards
Commission checks –each one heavier than the other
Free car rental certificates, train passes
Hopping flights to see a play in London
Dining in Venice and back at work- refreshed
Loving every minute
In the good ole days
-----------------------
Smiling stewardesses are now a thing of the past
Vacation time – heightened security
Crowded, stressed personnel handle airline counters
TSA mercilessly tosses away that precious water bottle
Parched, undergoing screening
Every shred of dignity pulled away
Sans shoes, holding ones unbelted pant
Dressing again – in public
A sharp cattle call rounds us up
Sitting on a narrow middle plane seat
Tired, hungry, in my minds eye I make up a sign
**************
$3 for a bottle of water at the airport
$2 for a soda can on the flight
$1 for a headset
$3 for a blanket
$4 for a meal
$2 tip to the porter to lose your luggage
$15 for a checked in bag
$25 for excess luggage
$200 for an additional bag
$30 for a smile from the stewardess
$2 to use the toilet
$2 for every extra flush
$5 if you spend more than 2 minutes in the toilet
$1 for every breath of O2 you breathe in
$1 for every breath of CO2 you breathe out
$50 tip to the pilot to land the plane safely
$100 discount if you want to stand on the flight
$100 discount to ride in the baggage compartment
$500 discount to ride on the wing
---------------------------------
Progress is so wonderful
Man has walked on the moon
We will shoot for the stars
But stay grounded on earth
Inflation will touch us all
Hair will fall, teeth too
Just like grandma
We too will have great stories to tell our grandkids Stories of plush seats on planes
Lavish free food and drinks
Free amenity kits, earphones, smiling stewardesses
Fun trips to see grandparents
Memorable, pleasant plane rides
Summer vacations full of fun……………
In the good ole days

Winds of change
I think recession has made the big difference the changes are faster and felt much more than they were when the economy was on a high.
Just like human emotions happiness does not have the same universal effect that sadness does.
You can see from a baniyen ki dukaan to the MNC's looking at how to reduce their cost base.
With this the poor will be hit twice as much as the poor rich man.
You search low and high everybody is talking the same language at leat in the travel industry.
If the banks are finding it hard to survive for the next two years God only can help the Travel Industry which catches a cold even if someone sneezes in the Antartica.
I love this industry for the many challenges it brings but the exposure it has to collapsing because it never was built on solid grounds (you see it is all in air travel :)))) makes me wonder if I should change it on my own or anyways I will be one day forced to change my career plans.
(Better do it on my own will than feel trapped )
So what should be an alternate path that I should evaluate???
Ladies some Thoughts please .....................

My Day
And the went for yoga which was good :) came back and back to work ! GOOD DAY :)
I am feeling guilty for pushing savy for yoga ...i see her day starts really early :(
Life is good and will be better !
Never ending Daysssss
so the most challenging part of the day is when I come home at 4 its hard not to doze off.
So in my attempt not to sleep I re learnt cross stitching and basic stitching yesterday.
on a blue piece of silk, funny how I remember Gurpreet my friend from school because she used to be the neatest. And yes, my college days when we used to hate house keeping but loved it when it meant staying in the class to escape the ragging in college in 1st year.
Nostalgia, a big sign of mature age.
I need something that does not put this silly content grin on my face.
Bit upset as was planning to goto Udaipur in Feb end but probably will not go as the schedule is all awry.
Oh yes, today met Sanjay the head of leadership team in India.
Found this really interesting article written by him on (wherelse) google.
Read it and feel like a hero..

I love this song
http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=JhpZfltbnAQ
Listen as your day unfolds Challenge what the future holds Try and keep your head up to the sky Lovers, they may cause you tears Go ahead release your fears Stand up and be counted Don't be ashamed to cry
You gotta be You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm You gotta stay together All I know, all I know, love will save the day
Herald what your mother said Readin' the books your father read Try to solve the puzzles in your own sweet time Some may have more cash than you Others take a different view My oh my heh, hey You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm You gotta stay together All I know, all I know, love will save the day
Don't ask no questions, it goes on without you Leaving you behind if you can't stand the pace The world keeps on spinning You can't stop it, if you try to This time it's danger staring you in the face Oh oh oh Remember Listen as your day unfolds Challenge what the future holds Try and keep your head up to the sky Lovers, they may cause you tears Go ahead release your fears My oh my heh, hey, hey You gotta be You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm You gotta stay together All I know, all I know, love will save the day You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold You gotta be wiser, you gotta be hard You gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger You gotta be cool, you gotta be calm You gotta stay together All I know, all I know, love will save the day
Prachi puts pressure on poor me :))
It my dream to write a novel someday ....
In the novel that I some day will write I will mention you ;)
maybe a hot character in aldo boots and hot pants ;)
hot hot hot hot.........
What I am sure of is that whatever I write does not conclude very well.
I am too enthusiastic a beginner and love to go all over the place, so it has to wait for sometime or forever maybe.
Its good to see almost everybody back except anshu, we shall wait lady for you to write.
Last three days saw a bit of me at work doing no work, giving a fruitless interview in one of the Internal job posting but was fun and once again thanks to you guys for urging me to at least apply for the job. (I am not sure if you remember it-it was the profile that was interesting with a not so interesting boss)
So like Mons I would like to extend my thanks to you guys who direct me in so many ways
and accepting me as I am and still trying to change me (LOL)
Loads of love to you all (mwaaaaaaaaah)
